Mexican food is my absolute go-to, and let me tell you, The San Fernando Valley does not disappoint. I live in the Valley - Village/North Hollywood area and so i will focus on that part (Eastern part of The Valley) for the sake of this post. This area is has plenty of fantastic spots that cater to every Mexican cuisine craving imaginable. These places have become my personal favorites, suitable for any occasion and any time of day. What draws me to Mexican food is its comforting essence. There's a unique joy in scooping up that last bit of food with a tortilla chip, indulging in the rich mix of flavors, and the thrill of spice in each bite. Gathering with friends and family over a table of colorful dishes and margaritas encapsulates the perfect dining experience. After all, who can resist the deliciousness of Mexican food? It's a celebration of joy, comfort, and the spice of life. Whether you've just moved near the North Hollywood area or are looking for new spots, i aim to give you some great additions to your go-to Mexican restaurants. Here are my top 5!
#1 Salsa and Beer, North Hollywood:
My journey into the Valley's Mexican cuisine scene practically started here. The prices, the portion sizes, and, oh, that bean dip that comes with the chips and salsa bar are so good! Enjoy dishes like fajitas and my go-to, enchilladas. Everything's just right, and everyone always leaves full and satisfied. Perfect combo, eh? They have all types of beers and a full bar as well, if you're looking to unwind. It's a popular spot, so you might encounter a wait, but trust me, it's worth it, especially for the vibes and the large parties. Enjoy your meal and drinks indoors or outdoors as an option, which is good for kids, families, and couples.

#2 Tony's Mexican Grill, Sherman Oaks:
This place is practically my neighbor, and what a good neighbor to have! Their delivery has saved many of my weekend mornings to be free from cooking! Fresh burritos with plenty of ingredients and exceptional chips and salsa that never fail to impress. Sometimes its the little things because they often will give complementary fruit which is much appreciated these days, in a climate where you're not getting much bang for your buck. If you're looking for anything with a little extra grease, this might not be the day to try Tonys because this place is known for its use of fresh and healthy ingredients. I personally recommend the Sante Fe Burrito or the regular breakfast burrito always hits the spot for our family.

#3 Burritos El Chavo, Valley Village:
Its funny because this an easy to miss but hard to forget once you've tried it place. Their tacos and those refried beans have a special place in my food-loving heart, along with the asada plate. Im very picky with asada and dont get it often and so when I had theirs, it was hard to forget. It's my go-to when I'm short on time but craving something delicious. It has maybe 4 booths, so not very big or fancy, but as I mentioned I will usually just grab it to go anyways.

#4 La Fogata, Sherman Oaks:
Whether it's a family dinner or a night out with friends, La Fogata's outdoor patio and salsa bar set the perfect scene. The margaritas are a must-try, and it's a hit with kids too – my daughter can vouch for their quesadillas! Their servings are enough to even share dishes and their restrooms are always clean. They are family owned and have been in business for over 30 years, and I can see (and taste) why!

#5 Leonor's Vegetarian Restaurant North Hollywood:
For those meat-free times of my life (yes, I take those breaks too), Leonor's is where I head. Their dishes make you forget all about meat, serving up flavors that'll have you coming back for more. I usually have the "chicken" enchilada or a veggie sandwhich, and my 11-year-old approves of their cheese quesidilla! The cozy vibe and friendly service are just the cherry on top. Lots of Mexican art and murals on the walls make for a nice experience.

These spots only scratch the surface of what the East San Fernando Valley has to offer, but they're a fantastic start to a delicious journey. Whether you're new to the area or just looking for your next Mexican food adventure, these places won't steer you wrong.
And hey, if you're ever looking for more than just a meal – maybe a new place to call home – you know where to find me. I'm always here to help guide you through the local area, one delicious recommendation at a time.
